Cheap but good meal ideas with a slow cooker

Hi

I'm hoping someone will have some great, cheap and healthy meal ideas that can be done in a slow cooker (preferably).

I'm a busy mum of 3, expecting #4 and am currently incapacitated due to SPD (causes loosening of the pelvic joint, and I'm on crutches to be able to walk) so standing in the kitchen slaving over the oven and hob is not an option right now.

The 3 children are all at school and have packed lunches as I can't afford the school meals for all of them (£30 a week ) so I like them to have something warm and nutritious on a night. However, they are also very busy kids with swimming lessons, dancing, football, Beavers etc so we have to eat at all different times each day. This has led to us sometimes relying on takeaways after activities to save time on cooking when we get in. Not healthy, or cost-effective!

So I bought a slow cooker thinking this would be the answer to my prayers. I'm struggling to think of things to cook in it though. I could really do with having a set menu each week for weekdays just to get through the hectic schedule, and then I can spend a bit more time on a weekend doing something different.

Any ideas/recipes would be fab!
Thanks

    Hi, :)

There's a whole bunch of them that can be found via our Indexed Collections sticky.

The one you need is:- The Complete Slow Cooker Collection

If you take a look at the first post in our "Quick Questions" sticky there's one there for Slow Cookers which will also contain quite a lot of hints tips and recipes - but you'll have to browse because they're not indexed.

And even more here:- In my slow cooker today....

    HTH :)
