paypal tax

i tried to purchase a value my stuff credit and paypal wanted to charge me £1.00 tax on 4.99-this cant be right can it?

    I've jsut looked at the site & it says it's from £4.99 but that's only if you buy 10 credits it then works out to £4.99 each 1 credit is £5.99.
    A local auction room will usually give free valuations.

    Sounds like vat.

    It isn't Paypal charging you it is the seller.

    But way dose it say on the page 5.99 then its broken down to 4.99 +1.00. That seems alot of vat.

    VAT is now running at 20%, but check with the person you are paying what the extra charge is for.

    20% of 4.99 is 1
