Pay for Car Insurance using Credit Card

Hi all

I have no idea about credit cards. I've never had one and I'm a little scared about getting ripped off!

However, my car insurance is due next month, and the price has shot up. Normally I would pay it in one go, but I just can't afford to do that this year. However, I don't want to pay the ridiculous rates of interest that you incur with monthly payments.

It was suggested to me that I get a credit card to buy it with, then pay the credit card back over a few months and close it.

Has any one got any advice about this? What should I be looking for when choosing a credit card that's right for me? Is it a good idea to get one with 0% on purchases for at least a few months (is that what i should be looking at?!?!)

Sorry, I'm a complete numpty when it comes to these things. Although I doubt I will be accepted for a credit card as I've only lived at my address for a year and my income is less than £20,000!

Anyone got any advice?

You need a 0% purchases card for it to be worth it, but you won't get one.

Just follow the car insurance buying guide on this site to minimise your premium.

we always pay our car insurance monthly and only pay around £30 extra for the whole year to pay monthly.
