Freeview TV Channels

Hi All
I've lost a couple of my freeview channels on my digi box... the one I use for recording yet the same freeview channels are available on the tv (which has separate freeview).
When I checked my LG tv (which was bought as it can also be used as a computer monitor) has a lot less freeview channels to offer yet all the tvs are off the same digital arial.....
None of these tvs are over 3 years old as I have been gradually replacing all the old ones (the type that you could put the family christmas tree on top of!)...
Is this something I just have to live with or is there something else I can do?? Obviously, I have tried re-scanning the channels, removing and replacing the plugs etc...
Any help will be appreciated..
Cheers

I would say it's down to your aerial. Do any of your sets show signal strength on the EPG screen?0

Have you tried retuning?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Hi
Thanks for your replies... I did try retuning... In fact, I tried retuning again before I posted... I don't have any screen to show me the signal strength... but I would have thought that if it was the aerial would it not have affected the other 3 tvs in the house, which are all fed from the same aerial... (They are only switched on one at a time... as there are only 2 of us in the house.... it depends on which room we are in at the time) so basically, I have 2 tvs that have lost these channels and 3 that haven't) .. If that makes sense..

Not all tuners are the same, some will work fine with lower signal strength, others are a bit more picky. You can check the signal strength on channels that are working.
I would still say the aerial rather than the TVs being at fault.
I have 3 TVs connected to one aerial on the roof which are all ok . . .
but a TV in the bedroom connected to it's own aerial in the loft, is a bit hit and miss. Some days all channels are fine, sometimes a few channels are unwatchable, due to atmospheric conditions.0 -
If you can display a signal strength on the digibox check to see if it varies from one moment to the next.
I had one TV which had trouble with poor Freeview reception the signal strength was up and down while all the other TVs the signals were good and steady.
Turned out that there was a poor receiver in the TV which was over amplifying the signals and the strong analogue signals were interferring with the digital signals.
Solution here was to insert an attenuator to reduce the incoming signal. It reduced the maximum strength of the signal but it was at a steady level and resulted in perfect digital reception.0 -

Actually you do (I suspect you have the LG M227 WD) Menu-Setup- Diagnostics-OK , displayes the signal strenght and quality.
And yes I would suspect also it is the aerial connection. had similar symptoms in the past. What you could try as the TV is small is to connect it to the feed for the TV that is displaying the extra channels, this will confirm if the signal at it's current point is 'hampered' , do you have amplifiers on the aerial feed?0 -
OP does your aerial use an active or passive splitter, if its using the latter then only a third of the available signal is going to each TV.
As above some tuners are more picky than others.
If you are using an active splitter one of the channels may have gone down, and it needs replacing. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thank you all for your posts...
Thanks to Societyschild and ariba10 for suggesting the aerial problems ...... I managed to see the signal strength and it shows, I would guess, 80% - 90% signal strength but none at all on these missing channels... Obviously, as I can't get them.... Another thing that was interesting, over the weekend, I found the missing channels under the wrong channel names.... mmmm .... I still couldn't see them as, as soon as I tried to view them, it would show me a different channel...
Also thank you DUTR, I did the diagnostic check and I found that it was only 40-50% with the LG tv.... That explains the missing channels..
Unfortunately, penrhyn, I have no idea if it is an active or passive splitter.... but I have a splitterbox in the basement that connects all the aerial cables to the main one... I never thought there was anything wrong with it as I was getting the programmes on other tvs... but having read all the posts, I think I will get a newer version.... as the one I have is pretty old now....
Thank you also bogtrotter... I read your comment about fitting an attenuator to reduce the incoming signal... I'll check to see if it varies and if it does, I'll do what you have suggested... (I'll google it for more info)
It is starting to read like an Oscar thank you speech so I'll end it here...
Thank you all again....0
