Council putting double yellow lines outside my house

You don't have to spend a fortune turning your front garden into a drive. You could just remove any wall/fence and dig out any excess soil and then get the curb dropped.Probably a couple of days labour and the cost of a skip.Add in the gravel(cheapest and easiest option) and you can probably get it down to around £400 + the labour if you can't do it yourself.
My dad used to park his car on some hard standing in front of the house and someone complained to the council he was driving up the curb so he had to have the curb dropped or was no longer allowed to do it.
Personally I think all houses with cars should have offroad parking for them but with older proerties its not always possible due to noone really expecting 10's of millions of cars to be on the roads when they were built.0 -
What I find odd here is that my local council won't allow old town centre office property (which is actually Edwardian town housing) to be converted back to residential because there's no parking..... Yet, they'll happily slap double yellow lines outside peoples homes?????“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Do the offices belong to the council?0 -
Do the offices belong to the council?
No, they're private...... The one's im talking about were bought by an expanding company who intended to move to a proper office building (once built) and then sell the town centre property as residential or as flats.
But it was blocked by the local council on the basis of having no parking and as I say, the local council have double yellowed several residential streets which used to be lined with cars belonging to residents.
So by all standards, if someone wanted to convert one of those properties into flats, then the council could block it and prevent the property being used as residential property altogether.... hmmm.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
