American Express - Weird Check?

Options
Hi all,

I've applied for an American Express Corporate card cause our company wants me to have one but my credit isn't exactly brilliant.

When i've looked on my report when they have done the search it says this:

Searched on: 22/03/2011 Searched By: AMERICAN EXPRESS EUROPE LIMITED Application Type:
Identification: Generic Check
Now I don't know if that is a full credit check or not? Surely if it isn't there is no way they can decline me if it proves I am who I say I am?

Thanks a lot

Steve this is not a credit check and other lenders cannot see these, not sure what these type of searches are for though, maybe for money laundering etc

Who has responsibility* for settling the bill? If it's the company then you won't be credit searched. All they've done is to check you're not a money launderer(!), not been made bankrupt, not got any CIFAS fraud markers on your file etc. As stated above, this 'unrecorded enquiry' search will not be seen by other lenders...it's only visible to yourself and the CRA.

Basically the procedure is the people who currently have cards put the expenses on the AMEX, then the company puts the money for the expenses in the persons bank account and then they settle the account...

Joint and several, or individual, liability? See the above link.

I'd be very wary about bankrolling (in any major way) my employer...it can be bad enough working a month in hand!
