Budget LPG
Comments

Its creeping up, Over time it will catch up with petrol 1p or 2p a time most likely,
Last time we had the mad fuel prices in excess of £1 litre I was paying 37p a litre for LPG.
Almost 80p a litre now. So no longer half price and less. Will take a lot of miles to recoup the
outlay.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I'm still paying half the price of petrol.0

The last time it was as low as 44p a litre was December 2007, so not sure where you are getting the 37p from as it's not been close to that for over 3 years.
LPG where I live is probably as competitively priced as anywhere in the UK. Current price is 67p. I have all the records of what I have paid dating back to Dec 2007 and the lowest recorded I have is 43p. Yet in that time petrol has fluctuated from 90p a litre to the current price.
When LPG was last 40p, petrol was 85.9. At that time a 45p per litre saving was seen as good, so currently my saving is over 60p, so if anyhting the saving is improving, regardess of whether it's half price or less.0 -

The specifics about LPG are always buried deep in the budget report. Generally LPG taxing has always mirrored petrol and diesel, so a 1% increase in tax is applied to LPG also.
I am therefore guessing we too will benefit from the 1p reduction.0 -

Indeed a school mate is on his third LPG car up in Scotland, he would rather use LPG than diesel.
And it means he can have a fairly juicy car, at the moment he has a Volvo Cross Country thing, the first one based on the old V70. It may be over ten years old, but drives in the way only a large engined Volvo estate with 4x4 can.0 -
In the budget document
2.132 Minor fuel duties From 6pm on 23 March 2011, and on 1 January 2012, the duty rate
for leaded petrol and compressed natural gas will change by the same monetary amount as
main fuel duty; and the duty rate for aviation gasoline and rebated oils will change in proportion
to the main rate.
The duty differential for liquefied petroleum gas will be maintained until 1
January 2012 when it will be reduced by 1 penny per litre. The duty differential for used cooking
oil biofuel will end as intended on 31 March 2012. (Finance Bill 2011)
I read this to be that LPG will also be decreased by the 1p a litre so the duty differential is the same as it was before 6pm yesterday. On 1st Jan the differential between the duties will be reduced by 1p like normally happens in budgets.

I got a Volvo V70 2.4 LPG through my motor trade dealings recently. I was very impressed with the system, plus the car had 180K miles and was still going strong - the guy had had the system fitted at 30K miles in 2004.
Definitely worth thinking about if you keep cars for a long time.0 -
I seem to recall that Proton Cars do an " off the shelf " LPG model.0
-
Then to top it, we're loosing the London congestion charge exception in 2012 too.
That off shelf LPG Proton, is that as in a car currently on the market new with LPG or was available previously off self on LPG?
Can definitely recommend a second hand Ford or Vauxhall that was factory fitted with LPG. Most were done at Milbrook and a top notch job, little drop in performance/economy and not much difference in price second hand today compared to the equivalent non LPG version of the car.0
