Cornwall for New Year?

Heads up guys, I could do with your collective advise?

Planning to take the OH and DD away for new year, do not wish to go too far but fancy cornwall because it is within driving distance.

Can any of you offer some good MSE ways, of reducing costs at this expensive time of year. As DD is under 2, I am looking to rent a cottage rather than hotels as we do not want to be tied into the room when she goes to bed at 7.30pm.

Any tips appreciated whether it be where to stay?, what is best to do?, activities suitable for under 2's?, places to eat?, where best to avoid?
Don't want to come across as lazy, as I have done a lot of searching but costs seems to be holding up preceedings.

I want to try and get away for upto a week anytime from the 27th December upto the 8th of Jan. Budget is tight, but camping not really viable with DD.

Cheers everyone.:A

  • Cornwall online, Wesy country cottages, Cottages direct. All seem to be giving we a cost of about £400 to £500 for 1 week, rental for 2 bed.

This seems a bit stiff to me when I can hire a 4 bed with ferry costs included to ireland for about £320.

    Update:

This might not be possible but will try anyway, ideally I would like a farm where they have converted outbuildings as b&b. We stayed in North Wales like this which was fab, being able to go and have a cooked brekkie while having your own individual space. I know my DD would love this as she lives in her wellies now.

  • We stayed at the apartments this year, and really enjoyed it. Mevagissey has some great easy walks on the coast, and just up the road, there is a footpath to Heligan.
You can see the apartments at this website.

Having seen you might like a farm with B&B and outbuildings, I can heartily recommend a place that I stayed a few years back which is absolutely great. The place is a working farm with converted outbuildings on the North coast with breathtaking scenery and great hospitality.

Their web address is http://www.lowertresmorn.co.uk/ I have no idea of their availability at that time but it would definitely be worth a look.

Hope you have a great new year
