Hi guys
I'm running Windows XP SP3 and have recently uninstalled Norton and replaced with Microsoft Security Essentials. Since doing so I've found using the internet virtually impossible (extremely slow, pages don't load etc.). Having had a google I found the suggestion to turn the Windows Firewall off. I've done this, and now I don't have any problems. But surely I can't leave it off?
Any advice?
Thanks

OK. I'll give that a go. Should I then reenable my firewall and see how things go?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

If you don't have much ram, avast is lighter than mse!!

Suspect it was the latter - not a fan of pc tools firewall, (or any other 3rd party firewall - ZA, comodo etc), they just slow your pc down and cause far more problems than they solve.!!

seconded.....and you can turn off webrep in avast too which may help with 3rd party firewalls if you insist on using them.......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
