Letters from the collection and enforcement centres are not scams!
My daughter received a very odd letter a couple of days ago from the West Yorkshire Collection and Enforcement Centre informing her she owes £250. The letter has a poorly copied royal coat of arms in the top left hand corner, the address is a PO box ,on the right hand side is a division number, an account number and then another oddity it states 'born' and her correct date of birth. The paper it is printed on is bright red and it states it is a 'first steps notice'. The second sheet is printed on white and is so poorly copied,we can just make out its a list in a variety of languages of how to pay.
This letter looks every bit like another scam, but I would like to warn anyone who has had a similar letter that despite their appearance, they are GENUINE I have contacted our local court today and they have confirmed this.
It relates to the sale of her first car and apparently she was fined for not sending the logbook to the DVLA, luckily she has evidence of a part exchange sale, so she has written to the WYC and E today in the hope she can get it rescinded.
We did move home last year at about the time the notice of fining was sent out,but we have re-direction of mail so we are positive that we have had no mail here regarding this matter.
If you have had one of these letters, please do not ignore it as you could have a visit from a bailiff or the police with an arrest warrant.
