Vauxhall Astra 06 breakdown

Hi. I hope I've posted this in the right place. I have a 2006 Vauxhall Astra that I purchased from a main dealer in June 2008 on 5 year finance - not one of my greatest money moments!
The car is now just under 5 years old and has less than 29,000 miles on it.
For saying it's age and limited mileage, I'm having alot of mechanical problems with it, and wondered if I had any kind of rights either with Vauxhall or the finance company. I know that cars have general wear and tear, but it appears either the clutch and/or flywheel have gone (these are majorly expensive jobs), amongst other things. As I say, surely a car used this little shouldn't have major faults cropping up with it.
Does anyone have any ideas please on how I could tackle this - or if it's even possible. Thanx for your time. Jo.

The clutch is generally considered a wear and tear item. A car with low mileage can be prone to more wear on the clutch than a high mileage equivalent because they have generally been used around town therefore have more clutch operations and clutch riding. The same can be said about many parts on a low use car.0

Hi,
I myself, have a 2009 Vauxhall Astra straight off the line with 6 miles on the clock and now, nearly three years later, it still runs and is in near perfect condition.
With regard to your vehicle, unfortunately, you purchased it when it was already two years old and that was where you went wrong, as you have absolutely no idea what was done to the vehicle or how it was treated before it was sold to you.
Unless you are a person that revs the guts out of it or continuously rides the clutch, the vehicle should not and would not have this particular problem or fault so soon.
It is therefore my suggestion that the previous owner/owners no doubt are at fault and the dealer was obviously aware.
You always have rights whether financed or leased so, may I suggest you click the following link, as it is very useful information from Consumer Direct.
Hope this helps.

Secondly, with regard to Molerats' comments, I agree however; that's not the only reason for example,
As said, I have had my vehicle since early 2009 and it still has only 4100 miles on the clock and my clutch pedal barely leaves the ground before it hits it's bite point therefore; a worn clutch will not always be assigned to low mileage vehicles.
Quite simply, the vehicles condition always lies at the hands of it's driver.0
