And what is this about advanced rent?

View **************** which sometime indicates companies that may be dissolved.
Accounts are two years behind, I believe when anything appears here the deed is done

Will get everything in writing before I part with any cash.

    No

In that case you need to make sure that it is registered. if the company goes bust, you lose your deposit.

Assuming that you are in England or Wales, you can sue the LL for 3 times the deposit. I suggest you send a letter now giving him 7 days to register it or you sue him.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Is there any way of finding out if proceedings to wind up the company have started.

You can check in a couple of places, but the problem I've found is that the updating is always slow.. and when dodgy stuff is being done it's always before any actions like this actually start.

    But, just in case:

Unfortunately not, NI. Not even sure if there is such a scheme here.

I'm afraid that that would appear to be the case. Company briefly appeared at Co house as being dissolved (appeared in Belfast gazette 21/2 weeks later) before being restored. I'm considering writing to the bank to ensure they are aware that the property has a tenant, in the hope that this will at least ensure some notice period?
