Here is a link to the booklet explaining how it is worked out:

    http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/AboutDefence/CorporatePublications/PersonnelPublications/Pensions/AFPS75/Afps75YourPensionSchemeExplained.htm

Around page 13 is the relevant info.

And a link to all the RPI annual change rates:

so all you need now is a calculator - have fun!

ETA: Oops! Just remembered that the Govt moved the goalposts and are using the CPI (Consumer, not Retail price index) from now on but that will only affect future increases and not those from 1997 to present.

    Start here:-
    Army Personnel Centre,
    Disclosure 2,
    Mail Point 515,
    Kentigern House,
    65 Brown Street,
    Glasgow,
    G2 8EX
    Tel: 0845 600 9663

they should be able to give you a good phone number, then you can get a much more accurate figure.

Full uncommuted pension at discharge increased each year in line with RPI (CPI for future years), a simple excel spreadsheet. My calculation was £15.88 pa out after 15 years. A good ballpark figure for 15 years will be IRO double what he is getting now.

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.

Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

Terrible, it was an error of .17% after 15 years compounding :D
