Ah thank you very much, I felt so alone all week, can feel anxiety, heart rate and not able to concentrate kicking in. Does not help the ill health thing. Have chatted to him and he is incredibly supportive as he knows we are both to blame, still living like we have two good incomes etc. Feel better already, he is a really special man. Now for the 2 teenage girls, ah my eldest 16 and going her GCSEs and is looking for part time work to help. The other one has never been a big spender and she always has money! Maybe she should do my bills.

Again tho thanks for the time and comments made. I will post an update when I have looked at my bills more thoroughly.

    Hi Dukess

Just read through your thread, and I don't have any more brilliant ideas for you (others here are far more experienced), but I wanted to say hi, because I have two daughters, a bit younger than yours (11 and 14), so some of the issues might be similar. Both have taken pretty well to the whole money saving thing. The elder has just trained as a football referee so she can make some money for herself, and the younger is my supermarket assistant - she's really got into price comparisons and savings (must be good for the maths ;) )

A couple of years ago we were an Ocado family, and I think, if I'm honest, we were spending about £600 a month on groceries. Now we go to Morrisons and Aldi, menu plan, shop to a list, check out offers, have dropped brands, and we are down to £340 a month. I think we can get this down even further, but it's only a couple of months since my LBM, so I'm still working on it. It's surprising how quickly this all becomes a way of life though! And meeting the challenge can give you such a sense of achievement. I also feel that, finally, I am being a good financial role model for my kids.

So, just wanted to wish you great success in your DFW journey :D

Well today I have checked out all the things I have on deals, Gas/Electric signed up for better offer with same provider says I will save 6% a year now. Accounts still slightly in debit but it has been a long cold winter so that should even out in the summer, but no reduction in dd. Mobile phones checked out I have been overcharged on my one so next months bill is £5.00, woo hoo. Cancelling charity subs, needs must. Also got rates for one cc and waiting on the other to compare and work out which one to start paying off first. Got appointment at Building soc have £3,000 overpayment on account hoping to reduce mortgage by £200 for the next 8 months. By then I should have no overdraft and my income will increase, as overpayments for IB will be done. Feeling a bit better about that already. Thinking that the 2 big credit cards, one will go to a loan (if the bank will lend it) as then it is a steady payment each month and will leave us able to start paying off the other one will all spare cash. Any comments, please feel free.
