WIN XP SP2 Firewall

Options
Just Loded SP2 and it seems to work fine - but when  I look at the firewall configuration it is turned off and recomends I turn it on - BUT when I do the next time I log on it has turned OFF - the Blurb says not to run 2 firewalls and I have ZONE ALARM running.

Some help from the experts please - should I unistall ZONE ALARM and use the windows fire wall or leave it as it is?

IS the windows firewall as good/better than ZONE ALARM?

??? ??? ??? ???

use zone alarm and ignore stupid windows.. the new XP firewall is meant to be better than the old one but that was AWFUL so is not saying much.. I'd say stick to zone alarm :)

The new Windows SP2 firewall is decent. I think all expert commentators have noted same. I used to have Zonealarm Pro (the paid for version) and it was fine ... lots of people moaned about that too. Since switching to XP firewall have noted no change whatever.

Every computer needs a decent firewall, up to date anti-virus and anti-spyware. I use XP SP2 firewall, Norton Systemworks and Adaware. I am happy.

BUT ensure that your operating system and hardware are stable, your app's are compatible with OS, configure each tool correctly, make sure you update ... and relax.

I think you'll find by default, Zone Alarm will disable Windows firewall, on start up.

    Either will do the job.
Myself, I'll stick with Zone Alarm.

The firewall in XP is rather complicated to use, it automatically blocks some traffic from coming in / out of your PC, you have to go and fix this manually. It's a bit too techie for most.

If you already have ZoneAlarm and it's well trained, best to stick with that.
