Cancelling Car Insurance

Any help or advice would be really appreciated!
I have a pay monthly policy with Budget Car Insurance which I would like to cancel as I have "scrapped" the car however they have said I will have to pay the full premium of the car insurance which is £900 because I made a claim for a crack in my windscreen. From what I am aware it costs at most £100 for this which I said I would pay on top of any other cancellation fees etc but there adamant I would still have to pay the full amount.
Obviously I am not happy at having to pay £900 for a car that is no longer going to be mine nor can I afford this.
Thanks

You may not be happy but the policy has done its job and therefore you are required to pay the premium for the year.
The fact you borrowed the money to pay the annual premium is not an issue. You owe them the money. However, if you are buying a new vehicle, the insurer will usually transfer the policy to the new vehicle.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
