Affiliate marketing?

Anyone making decent money using affiliate marketing techniques?
Specifically, i'm reading a few books that promote the idea of setting up one pager sites to answer a specific question or need, then if it gets decent hits, monetise it with affiliate marketing links.
The idea being to 'plant' many of these types of sites - one a day? - then 'cultivate' any that get decent hits.

Google does not like 'thin content' sites. It will be very hard to rank such sites unless you have an amazing keyword with no competition. Finding enough keywords to create a site a day will not be easy.
Also I presume when you say one page, you mean one main page of content, as you should also have a contact page, privacy policy, about us page etc.0 -

I think you're just repeating drivel you heard from people who are pretending to be google experts.
Ignore what you've heard and look at the facts. Take the phrase "make money", it brings up 268,000,000 results in google. That's a lot of competition, and it must be very hard to get a high ranking for any kind of make money term.
Yet time and time again people come in here having found a one page site that claims you can make money. They all turn out to be scam sites, but the point is they get found with a monotonous regularity. They must get found by a LOT more people than the ones who bother to come in here and ask about them.
Making money must be one of the top three most popular keyword phrases on the internet, next to S_E_X and P_O_R_N, yet these one page sites get found a lot of the time.
Personally, I don't think it's because they get on page one of a google search, it's more likely to be the number of people searching for that term. Which will mean a large number who will go down to page 5 or even page 10 to find what they want.
If only 1 in 100 searchers go down to page 10, but there are 250,000,000 people searching for your keyword, that's a lot of people looking at the google search result page that your site is on.Finding enough keywords to create a site a day will not be easy.
I disagree, finding keywords would be very easy, just go for the most popular.
A keyword with no competition usually means there's nobody searching for it. Why try to grab 100% of no searchers when you can have 1% of millions of searchers. Also I presume when you say one page, you mean one main page of content, as you should also have a contact page, privacy policy, about us page etc.
Having those won't help at all, but it's very easy to create a template for each and just change the name of the page/site and/or mail address.
You just need a line at the beginning telling the reader that from now on the term "The Site" means "Insert your web site name", then only use the term "The Site" from then on. I'd use a PHP variable that inserts the web site address without the http:// bit.0 -
So if you have a one page site targeting a popular keyword, how are you going to outrank the quality sites that have repeat visitors, unique content, and high quality design? OK, maybe I should have qualified my post by saying it will be hard to outrank quality sites 'unless you pay a fortune in advertising.' Then of course you can generate traffic.
If you are spending ONE DAY on a site as the OP suggests and not putting any effort into getting traffic, how exactly are you going to rank highly out of 280,000,000 results? You're not even going to make page 10 on google. Oh, and nowhere near 1% of searchers get to page 10!
And as for the additional pages, if you are monetising with Adsense you HAVE to have these as part of their T&Cs so they do help if you want to keep your account. If you are using, for example, Clickbank or another program, you are going to struggle getting enough conversions on a one-page site.
You're entitled to your opinion and if that works for you, fine, but I stand by what I said in response to the specific OP.0 -

So position 20 - that would be the 2nd page of Google - gets 0.29% of traffic for a search term.
I will gladly eat my words if you care to share the study that shows results on page 10 get 1%.0 -
If you are planning to quit your day job and concentrate on affliate marketing, think again. Don't believe on eveything you read. I have been doing this for a year as a hobby there is some return but not much to quit my job. There is a lot you have to do just to get one site listed on the first 10 pages of google. but if you are like me doing it as hobby, its fun. and its more fun when you get a sale or two.:):):)0

I currently earn about £5 a day from affiliate marketing. You need to put a lot of effort into building a good website with plenty of content. It takes a fair amount of time and effort but I enjoy it.Don't mess with pensioners. :cool:0

What type of affiliate marketing are you talking about? are you selling hard products or digital products etc.. If you want to get into affilate marketing you have to just do it. Just one of my sites makes £5-8 per day and thats just from adsense and it only has three pages of content another one that I have makes around £40 per week just selling shoes from amazon... You just have to do it and learn from you mistakes0

The area of affiliate marketing has become over-saturated and google is becoming better and better at sorting the wheat from the chaf. Your best bet is setting up a blog / site on a topic you are passionate about and hopefully an expert in.
Write for fun, enjoy it and spread the word via twitter, facebook etc, once you start to get a good following more people will reference your site and content and thus you will be found more easily in google and can start to monetise your site from there.
At the end of the day to make money online you need to write great content that people want to read.0 -
Im earning around £900 a month from Google adsense and about £400 from affiliate marketing. The key is in the niche.0

I make about £100 a month from my sites and would agree, it's content rich sites that earn the cash.:A0
