Dogs Trust

Options
I am making gift tags and I want all my profits to go to the Dogs Trust, but I don't know how to go about selling them!

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you

It would be worth asking Dogs Trust if they have any suggestions for selling hand made items. If you are using their name to promote your sales you should ask their permission in any case.

  • Thank you Sue.

I have contacted the Dogs Trust - I hoped they might sell the tags at their centres but they do not sell any items at their centres at all.

They have suggested I have a stall at the local Dogs Trust open day in August!
Trouble is I don't think I could have a stall where I only sell gift tags, so I need ideas on how to sell to the public.
Up to now just sold a few to my friends.

    Regards Chrissy

I can't see why not? Alternatively, if you have crafty friends, see if one of them would like to share a stall with you.

I thought of Ebay but I don't know how I would do it, as they are all different - I've made Xmas, Easter, birthday tags, Mother's Day etc and they vary to suit all tastes.

    Thanks for reply though

Might be worth seeing if a small local shop might stock them and sell them for you - our 'corner' shop has a bookcase with books for 20p and all the money goes to a local charity. I get a lot of my books from there pay my 20p then go and give them back once I've read them, then they can sell again!

Or maybe you could branch out and try bookmarks and cards.

Or maybe you could set your sights on next summer and that would give you chance to get more ready - that way you would have more to sell.

Or maybe tell friends they are for charity and then spread the word that way a bit. Or small, local craft fairs where they charge less than big organised ones.

Good luck - we sponsor two dogs and they need all the help they can get

There are a lot of smaller dogs charities who are in much dire need - more so that the big names. Check out some of their sites as there are some where people make craft stuff and sell them to raise money for a general pot to be given to smaller rescues. I cant remember the name of the forum now. I will try to find out and add it later.

Try Freecycle for the gazebo, you may get lucky.

Dogs Trust has a few charity shops, I wonder if they could sell your tags in there?

And ask all your friends, you'd be surprised who might have one lingering in the garage.

However, give it a test drive before use, whether it's new or second hand. Nothing beats knowing how it fits together when you're in a hurry!
