PPI Success

hey guys an gals just a quick update.

my partner and i were being bombarded sometime ago with companys phoning us with regards to reclaiming ppi but we kept saying no because we didnt think we were entitled to anything but after reading some of the posts here we decided to try.

we didnt use any company because of the insane amount that they would take from watever we may get so we downloaded the forms from MSE.

we sent the forms away and to our surprise a couple of weeks later we recieved an offer of a refund HOLY C**P we thought lol.

we had a loan out years ago (2004 i think) and unbeknown to us the ppi was included in the loan, we didnt even realise, anyway the loan ppiu totalled £1585 and they offered us a refund of £1155 which i think is a very gd result. oh the bank was the clydesdale btw.

thanks to everyone here for the help. :j

Well done! It's always better (where possible) to carry out a complaint for free, so you don't have to pay for a CMC.

However without claims management companies raising awareness many people would get back nothing.

Sorry for appearing so dim but can't seem to discover how to post a new thread, dunce that I obviously am!

So if nobody minds me hijacking this one, I just want to know what the chances would be of me reclaiming my ppi (which I believe was mis-sold to me) on a credit card agreement?

I took out a credit card with Morgan Stanley in about 2002 and the account was subsequently taken over by Barclaycard in about 2007 (presumably due to a merger/acquisition). The credit limit on the card has risen over time to £2,500 (originally £1,200 when I took it out) and last year (about 8 months ago) for the first time ever, I exceeded this limit having got into financial difficulty due to work beginning to dry-up (I am self-employed).

This credit card is one of several debts my wife and I have been trying to service since times got tough and we have approached things generally sensibly (I think) by getting in touch with the CCCS for example and negotiating payment plans with our creditors.

Recently, things have improved and we began to be able to meet the minimum payment required again for my Barclaycard but noticed, of course, that this was not bringing me back under my credit limit. In fact, due to interest and the ppi (that I did not even know I had) the debt is increasing!

Being self-employed since 1998, I should obviously never have been sold ppi in the first place as I have checked with the provider and I cannot claim on it. But due to the age of this case - and the fact that Morgan Stanley were the original card-provider and it's now Barclaycard - will I struggle to reclaim the PPI? Also, who do I approach about a claim initially - Barclaycard or the ppi provider, which is AXA?

Any help and advice greatly appreciated...

Thank you and sorry for the essay!!!

Hi there, i would try barclaycard first, then take it from there. Look here for reasons for mis sell
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#checklist
If any/all apply to you then write a letter to barclays in your own words that you believe you were mis sold this ppi because... and give your reasons, send recorded and give them 8 weeks to respond.

My advice is to cancel that PPI without further delay!! Then complain to Barclaycard, as our good friend amersall here suggests.

    i agree with evryone here.

get the ppi stopped and then follow the guide on here and you never know what might happen.

on another note my partner and i sent the letter back last monday and they said as soon as they get the letter they would refund us so does anyone know how long it might take for them to credit the account with the refund. :D

How are they responding to your letter before receiving it, that's quicker than quick. It's qk!
