Puppy Farm programme last night

Did anyone manage to watch it on B.B.C. 1 wales last night http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00zq1h7/Week_In_Week_Out_Its_a_Dogs_Life/, Puppy love went in and filmed the disgusting conditions the dogs were kept in http://www.puppylovecampaigns.org/news.shtml. Here's hoping that someone will sit up and take notice of these vile places and something will be done ( doubt it though ).

I didn't watch it, but I do know about the work that puppy love does. Many of us tirelessly email the powers that be on a regular basis, but I am afraid our plea's land on deaf ears.

Putting a stop to so called puppy farms is not high on the government's agenda, it doesn't win them enough votes come election time.

I will of course keep up my efforts along with a few dedicated others, maybe one day things will change. But until then and as i do every night, I will say a prayer for the poor animals that are suffering today.

It's a programme that should have been shown all over the uk and not just in Wales, I'm in Scotland and it was just by trawling through hundreds of channels I found it, I joined the Puppy Love forum a couple of months ago and I take my hat of the the work that goes on over there.
  • Didn't see the programme.

Whilst the practices need to be highlighted they tend to overlook what is perhaps a bigger problem- namely the backyard breeders who know eff all about breeding. People who (with the best of intentions) romanticise breeding but make no attempt to run health checks or look into the lineage.

It would also be nice to see the trade recipients of puppy farm dogs named'n'shamed.

My 8 year old was from Harrods- we had no idea that they were using puppy farms at the time.

I am a supporter of Hillside Animal Sanctuary. They do a lot of the undercover films on animal cruelty in farms, slaughter houses and battery farming. Last year they did filming about puppy farming. In fact they were shocked themselves how bad the situation is and for the first time ever as well as giving sanctuary to ill treated farm animals, they opened a section for dogs at Hillside (which is actually how I got involved as I went to see the facilities for rehoming of some of the dogs my group deals with).

It was a surprising discovery too, that many puppy farm pups are sold in litters or mixed litters to people who then pass them off as home bred.

Hillside are desperate for funds at the moment as they have run up huge bills over this harsh winter when hay prices doubled.

Another rescue who has many puppy farm rejects in Wales is Many Tears, which I also donate too.
