Hillside Services Limited

Please accept my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place as I am quote new to this.

Just wanted to ask advice from people regarding the following:

I recieved a letter through my door from a company called Hillside Services Limited asking me to call them as soon as possible.

I panicked at first thinking it was some debt collection place but thinking about it, I am up to date with my payments at the moment.

I studied the letter and to be honest, looking at it, it doesn't seem like it is from a professional company. They have addressed it to my first name, it is hand-written and says "from megan" at the end.

The actual writing says the following:

"Please telephone me as soon as possible and quote the message number shown below. Messages will be available for seven days from the date shown above. Please be assured we are not a sales company, nor is our phone number charged at premium rates."

I did a search on the internet and not many details come up about this company.

I really don't want to call the number in case it is some kind of con where I will get charged a fortune.

The strange thing is however, I received another letter exactly the same addressed to me but sent to my gradparents address!!!!

Does anyone have any thoughts on these people or have heard or dealt with them before??

Please help - starting to panick!!

Thanks

    Hi there

I think they are a DCA. I just did a search on it in google and a result came up of another forum where they concluded they were a DCA. They also posted this website http://www.csa-uk.com/cgi-bin/ukcsvread.pl. Hope this is of some help!

    Thanks for your reply.

Just done another search on the internet and found information on them in a debt website chat room.

Apparantely someone who has received a letter once who lives nearby went to the address and found it is a scruffy run down building. Also checking the internet, there is no DCA'a coming up as been in Brighouse where the letter came from so wonder if its some fly by night thing?

Another person in the other chatroom said they contacted National Debt Line and they told the person to bin the letter.

Am going to contact them myself and see what they say as it seems very weird.

Will keep you up-to-date but if anyone has any other ideas, they are very welcomed!:o

I don't think I'd list them as that.

I would just 'bin' the letter - if they have something important to say they could just as easily have put it in the letter. Why should you have to pay for the 'privelege' of talking to these people.
Incidentally, they say that the phone number was not a premium number - did it have a non-geographical prefix - e.g 0870 or 0845?

I totally agree with you hence why I haven't rang them. There is no reference to any company name or if it was to do with debts etc, any accounts numbers or figures, etc.

The tel no is 01484 723027

Is there an address? You should never call them if you can write.

Yes there is an address also, but having check the address I am starting to find out that it is just an old run down building - don't know whether to write and see if I received a reply or just ignore it and see what happens?

I suggest you just ignore and see what happens - even if they are debt collectors they can not do anything because you failed to reply to a letter which did not say what it is about. They could be a bunch of con men for all you know.

  • Are you sure you don't have a forgotten debt that is over six years old? some tracing agents send out letters asking you to ring a number to 'hear something of benefit to you' just to check if you are the person they are seeking, checking at your grandparents house would assume that they are checking every contact for your name. If you have no outstanding debts it is probably someone else with a similar name. Bin the letter and make no contact, they will go away eventually.
