    Ugh I hate spiders. In my old flat they did some work and left the cavity wall open, and a some really HUUGE hairy house spiders (about 5cm long) appeared just after that. I lived on my own and was actually afraid to go home :(

    Gah I'm itching now. God knows why I clicked on this thread at all. Sorry I had no useful contributions!

    Around the second year of life, Amaurobiidae spiders lay an average of 40 eggs in a breeding chamber spun of silk, where the mother will protect the eggs until hatching. When the young are born, they will consume their egg yolk, and then devour their mother before emerging from the chamber.
