Accessing My Pictures

When I go into My pictures, view option thumbnails, the names no longer are underneath the folder icon containing the 4 mini pictures of the category.When I hover over the folder the name appears but is no longer underneath.
Not exactly a big deal you might say but it's annoying. What have I done?

go to view on the menu and choose
choose details further down the menu,then make sure the name option is ticked.

Change to another View (e.g. List). Then switch back to Thumbnails View, but hold down the Shift key when you click Thumbnails.

How on earth do you find out about these things?
I would never have known that would do the trick.
