Didn't think you could. We specifically bought a flap panel as knew needed a cat flap as doors in new house weren't suitable (£460 for a new door for a bloody cat flap!!)
In the interim (this makes us sound odd) we put it in an old air vent that was in the lounge!

Probably too late for you as you've already got the door, but when we had UPVC doors fitted back up in Scotland, we actually had the front door hung upside-down (on the recommendation of the agent) so that the wide panel was at the bottom, as opposed to two narrow panels; that enabled us to fit the catflap.

The doors are already in and I didn't really want to or can afford to for that matter buy a whole new door :0( we rent the house but we can have a cat flap> Its an upstairs flat so the only exit out we have too unless you count the first floor window that both cats had decided to take a leap of faith out of even though the front door was wide open!

Please don't shoot me down for being an irresponsible cat owner the window was open the tiniest amount as it was hot but they have strong heads when they want something!

We do have an attached outside cupboard thing that we could maybe convert so they could go in their if the weather is bad so this may be a better option, maybe get a nice bed and leave some food out but other cats may then come in.

    Thanks for all the suggestions

I had the dog flap fitted on the panel bit in the middle, OH then used sealant that you use in the bathroom to go around all the edges so that there were no gaps for rain etc, he did a good job too nice and smooth....

Only problem now is the flap it's self got broken when dog went flying through it 100 miles an hour, it's been glued back on and is holding but the outside outer bit is broken off :(
