John Lewis Home Insurance

Generally an excellent policy but with one major problem you should watch out for.
In both Buildings and Contents sections of the policy document (pages 20 and 37) the section marked "STORM" says that they will provide cover for high winds with either rain, snow or hail. If you get just high winds which demolish your roof, or just heavy snow that flattens your roof hard luck. You need at least 2 problems to obtain help from JL.
I tried to talk this thru with John Lewis and got nowhere at all - just a take it or leave it attitude.
You might still want to go ahead because in all other respects the policy is a gem, but be warned.

I've bought lots of things from John Lewis in the past, and I'm sure I will in the future. I can't imagine that insurance will be one of them.

Are you sure of this, I have read their policy on-line and whilst they would not pay you for just heavy rain surely they would not decline a claim for high winds which meet the storm criteria ie over 50 mph etc.

Their wording does seem to be a bit ambiguous.
