Home Insurance for Student?

I am a student living in privately rented accommodation (not student accommodation) with my fiance who works full time. We also share the flat with a married couple, one of whom is a mature student doing a masters in business economics. Despite the fact that we are all mature adults in an extremely secure building, and i work two part time jobs, i have been refused cover by two well known insurers (more than and lloyds TSB) because of my occupation.
I dont think it's unfair to request cheap home contents insurance, when i dont live the life of a student, and if anyone needed home contents insurance, it would be me! I've tried endsleigh, but their cover is ridiculously expensive, what can i do? would i be better getting my fiance to apply for the insurance as he is working full time?
what can i do to reduce my costs?

It's nice to be important but it's important to always be nice.

Whatever is your occupation? Perhaps you need to rephrase your job description.
I'm sure my son (who is in a privately rented house) has continuing all risks cover from our home insurance. Why not ask your parents to make enquiries from their insurance company on your behalf?0 -
It will not be because of your occupation per say but the fact that you are living in a shared accommodation. This is always a problem unless you keep all your property within your own room and the door has a lock. If it is free access or if you have your property in shared parts of the home then you are looking at the specialist "student" policiesAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
