Okay, I realise I may be a little late coming to this particular party, but I just wanted to check that I’m not the only one blissfully ignorant of the following:

For those of us who have both a Tesco Clubcard AND a Clubcard Credit Card, I have just had it confirmed by Tesco that it doesn’t always pay to use both.

When buying fuel at a Tesco filling station, if you present BOTH cards you will receive HALF as many points as you do if you present JUST your Clubcard Credit Card.

Here is how Tesco Clubcard Customer Services have just put it in an email to me:
Your credit card is a Clubcard too and can be used to collect points, if you check your card, you should find another number that begins with 6340049, which is your Clubcard credit card number. To receive 1 point per £1 spent on fuel, you need to use your credit card to collect points and to pay. I've tried to explain this clearly for you below, but please let me know if you have any further questions.

If you spend £50 on fuel and present your credit card to collect points and pay, you would receive 50 points.

If you spend £50 on fuel and present your standard Clubcard and pay with your credit card, you would receive 25 points.

If you spend £50 on fuel and present your standard or credit card, but pay by cash or any other type of credit card, you would receive 25 points.

So just to be clear, you should use your credit card to collect points and pay when buying fuel as this will earn you the most points.

Thanks for contacting us.

Personally I feel completely diddled at the number of points I’ve missed out on over the months / years, but, in the spirit of MSE, let this be a lesson to all of us!
(Apologies for double-posting, but I wasn't sure which board this sat most comfortably on).

You failed to read the small print, Way too much small print these days. Its all there to make you
doubt anything is true or real.

You still using tesco loyalty cards after they have been in the press recently for selling your information?

Tesco must know more about us than we do ourselves. But its all legal because they have not sold your
personal details, But for everyone in your street or your postcode area so that all right then.
