HD TV in Windows 7 Media Player

I have an Aver Media A808 digital USB adapter and I cannot view HD channels in windows 7 media player.

They are not even shown in the channel list.

Or is it not possible to view HD TV in windows 7 media player?

Or if it is how do I view them.

And yes I can receive HD channels on my TV and it is the same aerial through an amplifier.

Does your video card support both DirectX 9 and DxVA?

If not, you won't be viewing HDTV.

In order to view HD TV, you need a USB adapter/TV tuner card that supports DVB-T2. Yours only supports DVB-T so you won't be able to watch HDTV on it.

It does do HD mate, but only at 1080i (which I personally wouldn't call HD).

the tuner in question is DVB-T only, UK HD TV is broadcast on DVB-T2 (which is competely different to DVB-T), whereas the tuner in question can decode DVB-T HD channels since there are none in the UK then there isn't any to decode, therefore you can only recieve the normal SD freeview channels.
(fyi some countries in europe use DVB-T for its HD channels, we in the UK use DVB-T2)
