Today i made some little steak and veg pies to use up some meat and veg i had to spare.
but i have made way too much pastry!
firstly can i freeze it?
secondly i dont fancy more pie in the next week or so, what can i do with the left over pastry that isnt pie?

yes you can freeze it - after all shops sell frozen puff and shortcrust pastry dont they? just make sure its thoroughly defrosted when you want to use it. I THINK it will keep about 3 months, but not really sure about that. I usually use mine within a few weeks.
I often leave it in the fridge overnight and make some pasties or Jam tarts the next day. sometimes cheese straws if there is only a little bit of pastry ( I roll it out and grate PARMEGIANO over it then some cheddar, cut into strips and bake).
Or for a sweet treat I roll it out and scatter some dried fruit on half (sultanas, currants or raisins) then fold the other half over it and roll again. then cut into fingers, brush with egg or egg white or milk If I havent got any eggs, scatter a bit of sugar on and bake for about 25 to 30 mins in a gas 6 oven. Bit like garibaldi biscuits!0 -
