Natwest Closed my Account !

Well it happened, without warning NatWest closed my E-Savings account, nice of them to tell me !. All I got was an error when I tried to log in last night to say my customer number was wrong, and today I got a statement to say account closed and balance transferred to 3038 ?, now what is 3038 as I dont have any other accounts with Natwest, and I hope I will get a cheque for the balance as it was a savings account as was in credit.

I have read on this forum (And others) that NatWest just close accounts, my problem is that I also have RBS savings accounts so I am wondering if they will be safe.

If anyone knows what transfer to 3038 means I would be grateful, as if I have not had my balance within a week I am making a complaint as its my money and they never even had the decintcy to write and tell me that they were going to close it for whatever reason, and I cannot think of a reason.

You can only have an e-savings account with a current account, so I'm surprised you got away with using one in isolation! 3038 is probably a holding account.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

You dont need a current account as per Natwest Website:

"No need for an existing NatWest account– although if you have one, it's quick and easy to move money between e-Savings and your other NatWest accounts"

I 'could' do transfers in and out from my other 'External' accounts using the card reader and online banking card.

    Really?...
