The xbox with an advance AV pack (£10 ebay) supports 720p (HD) and 1080i - THE SAME MODES THE 360 DOES. Most (if not all) HD tv's for sale will only support these modes and not the new higher 1080p which the PS3 will support.

cool! do you know if there is a similar device for the ps2? the xbox 360 will support 1080p with the latest software update, though like you say most tv's dont, and the difference is unnoticeable imo
