Beneficial interest - we wernt married

My ex announced several months ago that we were over, and that i had to move out. I found somewhere to rent eventually, didnt pay anything for the 5 months it took as was told to keep the cash and put it towards anything i needed for the new place, and was given a sum of cash by my ex (which i had to sign for!) to help with the deposit and to purchase some stuff for the new place. I took everything from the house that i had bought during our relationship, from the washing machine/sofas/ etc right down to bedding/towels etc, leaving not a lot actually. Admittedly these items were already there when i moved in, (ex had been living there alone for several years) but as they wore out or broke over the years i bought the replacements and took them with me when i left. While we were living together i paid for the weekly shopping, the council tax and the electricity bills. My name has never been on the mortgage, and i didnt pay any more that i have already mentioned, and didnt do much in the way of decorating etc. Forgot to say, we have no kids either,.
Ive heard i might be entitled to Beneficial Interest? Ive read conflicting info from several legal sites, and what im really interested to know is - how soon do i need to claim if im going to? Is there a time limit? Im finding it really difficult to make ends meet now, im self employed part time, i dont think i would qualify for legal aid tho.
Thanks in advance

I don't know a lot about it, but I think it only applies if the property is sold. A friend of mine owned her house and her boyfriend lived in it with her. When they split up, very acrimoniously, he was able to register a beneficial interest which meant he would get a share of the proceeds. She had to buy him off. He never paid anything on the council tax or mortgage, and didn't help around the house either. If he got BI I would think you would certainly be entitled, but as I say, I think that all you can do is register a Beneficial Interest and then it has no effect unless the property is sold.0 -
The whole post smacks of troll - again.
There's been a spate of these recently.0 -
lol sounds like some one has had a lucky escape
you shouldn't get anything. apart from maybe a shiny new personality.0 -
This one, the thread about how outrageous it is to be asked to pay "keep", the earlier one about FIL being forced into a home and having to pay for it with his savings ...
Each a new poster with a very extreme position. It just looks like a pattern to me.0 -

Troll or no troll, makes for a good debate! I think OP has got lots out of this.
I think it is strange how the OP clearly states how they left him with nothing & now wants more! Normally posters put themselves in the best light, leaving things out to make themselves sound better.:j - DS - 7
