Problems opening a Santander ISA

Hi,
8 business days ago I applied online for a new ISA account. I received a reference number at that time.
Since then nothing, no emails , no post.
Tried to chase up on the phone but they say they can't help with online applications. Sent an email yesterday no reply as yet.
My questions;
Anyone else had probs?
Can I somehow stop the application and go elsewhere? I have lost confidence in Santander. I am getting concerned about missing the deadline.
Thankyou

I applied online this weekend and Monday the ISA was on my online logon. I am an existing customer though.
Perhaps they are just taking their time to post you details?Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -
I opened one with them last year, nothing but trouble to do it,think it took about a month to finally get mine sorted,if you set it up on line the instructions on what to do are not very clear, taking mine out this year and putting it in the Halifax.0

I've had the same problem with 2 accounts opened recently. You get the email after completing the on-line application, then it's like being a mushroom!!!! (nothing)
You can never get hold of teh right department who can find out the status. Remember they use to be called Shabby Abbey - nothings changed!!0 -
Thanks for input.
Can I withdraw application and open an ISA with another provider?
Does your application( but as yet unopened ISA) use up your allowance?0 -
Erm I would say that if money hasnt actually gone into the new account you should be OK. I wouldnt go near Santander, too many frustrating dealings with that shower to be honest. Perhaps someone else will come back and tell you different though. Just my view really.0

As long as you haven't paid any money in then you can just open one elsewhere. If you had arranged for an opening deposit already (by giving them account details for a transfer etc), then you might run into problems.0

I found out that the only way to get anything sorted at Santander was to call at the local branch and do it from there.0

Received a letter in post today advising I need to send 2 forms of id....
why they can't tell you this at the outset I am not sure.
If I was a cynic I would say the game here is offer a good rate of interest then make it as slow a process as possible before you get your money in the account.
