There is a phishing scam and customer details stolen with play.com, please read article

You are right this isnt a grabbit and shouldnt be here.

It isnt even a phishing scam. its someone with a list of people who have at one time shopped at play.

It maybe of interest to some but should be put in the correct forum for those users

    what was it you missed?

that someone may contact you and pretend to be play, com in the same way that 100 other scams try and contact you like banks, tax office etc?

if you had recieved such a mail from play.com would you have followed it and entered your id's?

and if so what would have happened? they would have logged in as you and been able to order things with you credit card ? to an address they can trace.

They cant see your credit card details as they are hashed out so there is very little in your play.com account which isnt available in the electoral reqister.

Thats why you dont get scams from people such as Amazon etc as they will next to no value in them. If there was , you'd get 1000's

rant over, now going for a lie down before I start sending some emails as admin-play.com:rotfl:

It's funny how people can pick and choose what non grabbits are acceptable. I'm sure i saw a 'thank you' thread in here (infact loads in the not too distant past too) and noone says anything about it not being a grabbit, but when someone is trying to bring a scam to others attention (believing it was serious bank fraud at the time!) they get jumped on *sigh*

Except, of course, your email address, and its linkage to your name and your address!

What are Play doing passing on email addresses to 'Silverpop' anyway?

The website washed its hands of direct responsibility, blaming the mishap on a breach at a third party company called Silverpop – who run email marketing campaigns for Play.com.
