Slightly different but we prosecute for importation however i think it would be a great idea if every countries airspace they flew over also prosecuted them for possesion, esp if they flew over an arab stateLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Travel or law forum?
This isn't a joke, or a smart alec question, I genuinely don't know. Obviously this didn't really happen.
Obviously?
I can't decide if you are currently banged up somewhere you think you didn't ought to be or are planning on stabbing someone on your next flight!

Not a direct answer - but I recall reading (possibly even here) that an airliner flying to Hong Kong ran into engine problems over Kazakstan, or somewhere similar, and made an emergency landing there. The passengers (naturally) didn't have visas, so were herded into the transit lounge and left there for several days with minimum facilities while a spare part was flown out and installed.
So I can imagine the local authorities saying clear off we don't want to know. Or impounding the plane/passengers/witnesses pending a trial. Or anywhere in between. It would be a nightmare situation for all concerned.0
