Hi Sweet
Have you informed tax credits of the change of circumstances regarding your daughters DLA award, if not already you could receive about £50 extra per week and request backdating to original award, you'll get at least 3 months, may help.
Good luck with other issues.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -

I have had a builder come and look at the problem and theres alot wrong with it. The previous guy who owned the property made a mess of fitting the shower. The tiles are cracked so water leaks through the tiles, the shower tray is cracked in 3 places. In between the tiles is like grouting which he said shouldnt be there and fitted incorrectly. The water leaks straight therough the wall through tiles and under the shower on to the floor boards in the bathroom, and accross the floor to leak into the kitchen.
No amount of sealant is going to work if the shower tray is actually cracked.
Generally house insurance will pay to put right the damage caused by a leak, but won't repair the leak itself. Some house insurance policies will also pay for tracing the cause, though a lot don't.
Of you keep using the shower, you will spread the area of damp and have a harder job putting it right. You also risk fouling up your electrics. You really must stop using the shower until it is fixed.
Either beg or borrow showers in other peoples houses/ public swimming pools etc or beg or borrow the money from friends/ family to fix the problem.
Once you start your maternity leave, could you look after your child while your husband earns some money to help you through this.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. Hi
To go back to your original question, you should contact your local council Bolton. Ask for housing renewal assistance
http://www.bolton.gov.uk/website/pages/Homeimprovementshousingrenovationgrantforaprivateproperty.aspx?bid=2814
If they offer grants (probably unlikely due to the government cuts in council spending) they will be able to help. Also, you could also try to apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant for a shower for your daughter, the council will have information on this as well.
Good luck
