Best business bank account - have bad credit rating!

Due to repeated redundancies we have debt and struggled with repayments recently so our credit rating is bad. I work on a self-employed basis and need to open a business bank account.

Could anyone advise me of a good business bank account that I can open even with a bad credit rating, preferably free?!

We have current accounts with Barclays and Cooperative (Cashminder).

Natwest Foundation account will suit you perfectly. You get online banking, VISA card and chequebook. It's their most basic account so doesn't come with any lending facility like OD or loan/credit card. Run it well for a year or two and then see if they'll upgrade it.

Thank you, it looks like a basic business account. However, I'm unsure of the monthly charges. I haven't just started but have been working on a self employed basis for two or three years so won't be entitled to free banking for two years. I can see the charges for the other bank accounts but nowhere does it say how much the Foundation account costs - can you advise? Some months I only earn £50 at present so don't want to pay out half of that in fees if I can avoid it!

We have a Natwest branch in town so next week I'll go in and have a word with them.
