External render - remove old stuff and re-render

I'm having an extension done and rendered with smooth render, but the builder has not included the cost of removing the existing pebbledash render and re-rendering the existing part of the building.
He's given me a figure to do this extra work, but it seems steep to me. Can anyone advise me what I should be expecting to pay for this work>
At a rough estimate, the old render covers an area of about 90 square metres minus the window areas.

Hi,
Out of interest what was the quote, and how much did you end up paying in the end? We are in exactly the same situation, only the area is about 60 sqm.
He quoted 4,600 plus VAT to remove old render, re render in smooth then paint. This included £450 for some remedial work on the bay window.
This seemed high to me.
Thanks.0 -
We had some quotes to re-pebbledash an end terrace in Yorkshire.
Most were around £3500 including stripping old render, making good, and rerendering/dashing.0 -
around here we expect to pay about 1500/2000 for a whole house render.
you can probably double those prices for the SE area.Get some gorm.0 -
Sand cement render is about 25 quid a metre, dashing varies on what type of spar or if its wet dash, through coloured render is around 35 quid a meter these are figures for new blockwork, if its going on old substrates its going to be north of these figures,as thers more work involved plus scaffolding skips etc.so speaks a rendering contractor up 't' north.0

Removing old render is an absolute time consuming chore. 4 times the time it takes to put new render on. Horrible job.0

I removed all my old render myself (around 60m2 on a Bungalow) and it took me three days. I used an SDS impact drill with a chisel attachement (and the drilling function turned off).
I paid a local chap £1000 to re-render it and he was excellent.
Just need to paint it.I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0
