Splitting insurance premium on leasehold flats?

Hi there, hope someone can offer some advice on this.
I live in a purpose built leasehold flat, in a block of 6. One of the residents has managed the building insurance for the 2 years we've all been living there, and the premium has just become due again.
He is looking to split the premium 6 ways, with each resident paying an equal amount, is this the normal way this is handled?
I only ask as the flats are all different sizes. There is 1 x studio flat, 2 x 1 bed flats, and 3 x 2 bed flats. I own the smaller of the 1 bed flats, and it's probably only half the size of the biggest 2 bed flat. Is it fair that I should be paying the same premium as them?

You need to read your lease. It should detail how things should be split. You follow the terms of the lease because that's what you agreed to when you purchased...Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Will the lease definitely have information on how the insurance (specifically) should be split? I didn't realise it contained references to issues like that.0 -

It will talk about costs and responsibilities and how they are shared. I wouldn't be surprised if it's an even split, though a number of leases are split by %s.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Usually the lease will state who has the responsibility of insuring the block, then the cost of the overall insurance should be apportioned as per the lease terms, as the apportionment applies to all communal costs - which includes that of the insurance. Check your lease
