  • Upright or chest? From where is it leaking? What is leaking (water presumably, anything else and you definitely have a problem!)?

If it's like my upright it may be "frost free". The moisture in the air condenses on the cold surface inside the freezer, trickling down to a collector which has a small outlet with a tube going "out the back".

Once out there it drops into a metal tray over the pump, which warms the water enough to evaporate it.

I had probs with it freezing up - the tube had got bunged up with gungy fungassy-stuff. Took the tube off and cleaned it, now OK.

Perhaps the tube has been knocked out of the tray and the water is now going onto the floor?

I take it, then, that it's a frost free model?

You'll need to pull it away from the wall and have a good look around. One way is to look inside the ffridge / reezer and see if you can find the exit hole, probably at the bottom.

The idea is that the water comes out the back and onto something warm to evaporate, so have a look for a drip tray mounted on the motor or the heat exchanger.

You could empty the freezer and get your OH to try pouring a SMALL amount of water down the inside back and watch for where it comes out. Make sure you've got plenty of towels ready.
