intermittent electrical connection ?

Although we currently have light in the garage, the electrical supply to the washine machine seems to be intermittent - the light on the display is flickering and the box where the cables are meeting is making a buzzing noice. The washine machine did complete the cycle but the clothes don't seem to have been rinsed. The overhead light is working OK. The light is fine inside the house.
What's the problem, do you think ?
Thank you

loose connections prob. Switch it all off at the fuse board and check them if you feel confident, or get an electrician in0

Absolutely pull the fuse and get it disconnected ASAP - the buzzing is likely to be arcing which could easily start a fire, whether the machine is running or not.0

That there is something wrong and you need to get someone in.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Thank you for your prompt replies.
The husband is back home now. He found out that one of the twin sockets was not working. The washine machine has been connected to a neighbouring socket. The buzzing noice has stopped.Keep calm and carry on0
