Refund For Technical Report Under SOGA

I have had an issue with a faulty laptop which I bought from Ebuyer. They said that I had to get a technical report as it was out of warranty and they would refund me up to £35 for the report. I have got the technical report done, but it cost me £50. Am I entitled to a refund of the £50? I have had a satisfactory repayment for the laptop, so it is just the cost of the report that I am now chasing.

How old was the laptop? If you went to small claims you could claim for the report, but if they have given you a full refund even though you have had use of the laptop I would accept that, as they are only obliged to give you a proportionate refund.

The laptop was 13 months old and they gave me a cash refund of about 80% which I was reasonably happy with. Does this affect whether or not they should reimburse me for the full cost of the report?

In that case, I would be asking for a full refund of the report (the amount you have paid is certainly not high).

Had you been given a full refund, if you needed to take it further you would be at risk of them offsetting the difference against the refund, so you would have been no better off.
