are the teeth horozontal the the belt, or vertical.. if you get what i mean.0

i believe vertical. just had another look and it is the fan belt i think. goes round a pump and alternator etc. there is some casing next to it poss hiding the timing belt.0

yeah its the alternator belt you are worried about.. if that goes, you'll lose power steering, aircon (if fitted) and charging will fail.0 -

theres a silver metal engine mount that the timing belt runs under.. and the timing belt cover is split into three peices. so without stripping, you shouldnt be able to see it.. unless some one has removed it and not put it back!0 -
so in reference to an earlier conversation about a full 6 chambers playing russian roulette, have those six full chambers reduced now? is it ok to drive for a day or 2?0

If it was my car then i would, however.. dont be suprised if it fails! its not an expensive job to do.. or have done.. so dont skimp! but like i said, unless it goes whilst you are going around a sharp corner.. then you should be ok0 -
You should be able to get someone to change the fanbelt where you are quickly and cheaply -- most garages will change this as a freebie during a service if necessary. The part costs about a tenner and if you're mechanically minded just do it yourself -- not massively hard.0

I think you only need a 13mm or 15mm spanner!0
