Why does laptop not stay connected - help please

Can anyone explain why my grandson's laptop keeps disconnecting from the internet while his father's doesn't have any problems?

How is each laptop connecting? Wireless or ethernet?
Assuming wireless, is one further away from the router? Is the wireles adapter showing a weaker signal?
Tried changing the channel via the router interface?
You've not given sufficient info for anyone to make more than a guess.

Thanks for the reply. They are both connected by wireless. They are both used in the same room as the router so not much difference in distance from router. That's about all the info I have at present as I don't live with them but just said I'd try to get help for the problem from the site. What other info would help you and I'll try to get it?

Does either your son or his dad get disconnected when the other is connected eg your son is connected first and when your dad joins he cant or he does join then gets disconnected

No, it's only my grandson's laptop that keeps disconnecting. This happens even when his Dad isn't using his laptop and it's only my grandson who is online.
