Scottish gas homecare 200
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have scottish gas homecare 200 plan. My heating was not working so I called out an engineer. When he arrived he told me a part of my back boiler was broke and he was not sure if it could be replaced (he also mentioned a few times that it would be better if i replaced my boiler). He then phoned someone and was told that they could not get the part for the heating as it was 15 years old. He then told me he had ordered it and it could take months to arrive. He has left me with no heating or hot water. I have looked at my agreement and cant find anything that states if he cant fix it then its my problem. I just really need to know where I stand with this as I am not in a position to replace my boiler.
If anyone could help me with this it would be great.
Many thanks
Julie

Call a independent local RGI, who most probably can get you the necessary parts. Then cancel your Homecare plan-complete waste of money, as you have found out.
Make and model of boiler would help.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for that. What I would really like to know if they can do this and just leave my property without any heating or hot water.

Jooles call the call centre and ask if they can look into it for you, you wont get any money back if you cancel, and if someone else does it you will have to pay them. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

Thanks for your reply. I did phone them and I was told if they can't fix it there is nothing much else I can do and they could not understand what my complaint was. I'm more annoyed at the engineers attitude (which changed slightly when he realised my husband was in) and the fact he thought it was ok to leave me with no heating
Thanks again

If you can provide the part then they can repair ask them what is required.0

But that was the situation when he arrived. If they are unwilling to source the part it's better you do it yourself. If you give the make and model and the part required, then someone on here can probably advise if that part is available or not.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Unfortunately as it is a maintenance contract they can leave you with no heating/hot water if the boiler is not repairable. It's your boiler - if it can't be fixed you will need to get a new one!0

BG will do this as long as you provide a valid receipt to prove the part is new0 -
Do BG not survey central heating systems that they cover under maintenance contracts? I am covered by Gassure and they do. They wouldn't cover a boiler/system they consider to be obsolete or hard to source parts for.0
