selling car advice
Hi all
Just wanting some help selling a car as i have bever sold one before
I have an 06 peageot 107 (1 ltr cheap to run, insure but 55K on clock)
been thinking of selling it to one of the we buy any car type people. been offered around 2.6k but reading on the net it seems that this will be knocked down when they view. there are other sites such as www.bestcarbuyer.co.uk that are offering the same sort of figure and say 97% of value achieved as average but i have never heard of them? are they any good anyone know?
what about ebay? or autotrader? or any advise please as i dont want to be scammed etc
thanks in advance
Chris

Take it for a trade-in quote, if they offer about the same then it is a fair price, if they offer you £3500 trade-in then it isn't such a good deal.
A better idea might be to check Autotrader, might be easier and quicker to do this yourself, rather than wait for somebody on here to do it.
CarGiant has a car of the same year as yours with 20k more miles for £3799+£91.
With that in mind I don't think £2600 is the best you could achieve, you may be able to get nearer £3000 or maybe more if you sold it via Autotrader.
Don't forget that these buyitnow forms never usually pay what they say they will, they call it chip, where they chip the price down when you come to do a deal.
Don't forget that these little 107/C1/Aygo cars dpo seem to hold their value quite well.
If it was me I would try an advert in the local freeads paper, at around £3500, to allow for some negotiation.
If you are unsure then just trade it in at the dealer you are buying your next car from, especially if you are not confident in selling it.0 -

thanks for your reply - I have checked autotrader and value seems to be between £3k to £3.5k. I would be more than happy with £3k to be honest
I have a company car now so cant trade in
thanks for your help - appreciated0 -
Usually you get it for free on here. :rotfl:The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

What variant of the 107 is it?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

In that case try a private ad in Autotrader, and don't let anybody come to view it when you are alone, don't let them test drive unless they are insured to do so, all the usual things to watch out for.
Sometimes eBay is handy because if the car is properly described then there is just an exchange of money for documents and off they go, make part of the deal that you must test drive before auction end.
Put your reserve at about £3100, with a BiN or £3300.
Some people say they get better luck with an eBay advert rather than an eBay auction, haven't sold much on eBay lately.
I always use Autotrader.
The reason the price of £2600 is on the low end of trade value is that the problems assiciated with selling a car are gone, but as people that typically sell to these kind of places normally do so because they need the money is another reason for the low offers.
I had mates that used to have adverts in the back of various magazines, with the we buy any car for cash thing, they would make a rude offer on the phone, if they didn't get the phone slammed down they knew they were on for a good deal, they would then go to look at the car and offer even less.
I didn't have he stomach to take advantage of people like that, but the motor trade is full of those that will happily do so.0
