They wont let you close it if there is money owing. Just forget about that account for now and save the money you would usually pay in until you have enough to pay the balance in full. They shouldnt charge for unplanned overdrafts caused by there charges etc.

    Hi aka,

You won't be able to close the account if you are in debt on it (i.e. in your overdaft, or overdrawn) - is this the case? If not, what are the charges for?

You say CCCS are dealing with your loan? are you actually doing a DMP with CCCS? or are they helping you to offer reduced payments? You need to treat the overdraft as another debt in the same way as the loan. So you need to offer them a monthly payment towards the overdraft and ask them to freeze interest & charges (they don't have to but they might if they see you are paying what you can afford).
If you don't pay them anything at all then they certainly won't agree to freeze the charges.

dont think i,m explaining myself right, i cant pay the loan so they charge me 6 pound for not paying, they then charge me 6 pound a day for not paying the first 6 pound, thats when they are saying unarranged overdraft, but i allways put in money to cover the d/d so i dont no where these charges are coiming from.
the cccs have told me what i can afford that i hope is going through now, they did say they did not receive my last letter so i got to send it again, i did send it recorded delivery.

What is the balance on the overdraft?
You say you put money in to cover the d/d. Is this the loan DD? how much do you pay in each month? how much should the loan DD be?

Does your £6 go in before they charge you the £6? if not how many days later is it going in according to your statements? Could you afford to pay in £12 one month so that you are ahead of the charges, which may stop the fees building up.
Or is it that they are trying to request the loan DD twice in a month? a lot of places do this, try on the DD date and then try 14days later.

Carnt you cancel the direct debit from internet banking, then they wont be able to charge you the fee.
