Satanander Current Account - Any good

  • Expect a strong chance of them losing your money, not allowing you to have your money, damaging your credit file for no reason within the first 12 months.

Yep I can verify the above. I regularly get my card frozen for fraudulant transactions. Last week it was £8.47 at my local Tesco I use every week. (The only thing that was odd about it is its usually a £50 spend). Anyway they will soon be my ex bank. Terrible and stressful sums up my time with that bank (less than a year)

I'm not with Santander myself - but my parents are and, based on their various hassles over the months, I would not touch Santander with a very long stick. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't want to comment on issues of which I have no direct experience. The sorts of things my parents have endured include things like Direct Debits going astray, incorrect payments being made without any reference to the account holders, etc.

Quite honestly, if they offered me wads of free cash I still wouldn't be tempted. I have been with Natwest (STEP account) since 2007 (and am several years into an IVA) and I've been very happy with the service I've received from them to date.

I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you personally - good luck to you. xx

  • They are clueless. Don't be swayed by the opening offer, because if you want to do any form of internet banking it will block your passcode time after time after time.

They send so much mail, the majority of which is duplicated, and are more interested in trying to sell you products at the counter than listening to what you want to do.

I've gone to the Halifax and despite the bad press they get for their customer service I can only say I've had great service from the cashiers to internet banking.

The only downside are their cringeworthy ads.
2013 - Finally got the house we' ve worked so hard to get......now it's a life of diy and no money....couldn't be happier 😊

That (amongst other things) is exactly what my parents have been experiencing. My mum had a very old-fashioned innocent, rural, upbringing though, and doesn't like to be "disloyal". I've tried to explain that it doesn't often work like that with big global corporations - but it's her choice at the end of the day, not mine.

I am in the process of moving from them to Lloyds - I have a very long thread on here about my tribulations (still ongoing).

I wouldn't advise ANYONE to go anywhere near them. Just see my signature.
