Seeing a solicitor for the half hour free session..

I needed a paragraph on a piece of paper checking and rung round various solicitors getting no less than a £200 quote. I rungone and explained this on the phone and was told that i could be booked in for their free half hour session. They asked if i worked and that was that.
I have had the half hour and at the end the woman asked me how much the other solicitors quoted me and who it was..i said and she said well i certainly wont charge that but will have to bill you as you have had the advice?
Is this normal to still pay, she didnt know how much either just that she would invoice me.
