Wooden floor showrooms around London?

Hi everyone,

Can anyobody suggest addresses of showrooms in/around London for wooden (engineered) floors?

(I have doubts in making a choice only based on the tiny samples you request/get by mail from online retailers!)

There are a few around:

Builders Depot in Southgate (North London) have a big showroom on their top floor. They are not really on the internet, so you will struggle to find much detail, but they have a good range there. We bought ours from there.

I'd also suggest going to the homeshow at Earls court that is on this week. There are always lots of flooring people there. We got our first ideas of what colours we wanted on that trip last year.

In general up around the North/NorthEast area there are small companies that have showrooms for all building materials. You might get some help at Builders Depot with names in the local area, but not sure if they would do that.

(I've been to the ideal home fair last weekend, but I was quite disappointed, to be honest: half of the stands seemed to be about "kitchen corpses" you see on tv-shopping channels... )

The ideal home show last year had someone called Lumber Liquidators. They seemed ok, but get dubious reviews on the internet. And they are US based, but bring on the wood.

Anyway, they were good for colours.

In relation to the samples, I would say that depending on what you go for, the larger samples may not help either. We have Jatoba flooring, and the range of colours and textures between each board is quite significant. Plus I think the colour changes a fair bit over time, so it is very hard to choose. There were many arguments over it in my house!

Builders depot have various sections of the floor laid with a number of options, so you can see them across a slightly wider area.

p.s. I am not sure what a Kitchen Corpse is... but I do seem to remember about 20 different versions of the 'perfect mop' on display!

kitchen corpses: utensils, gadgets and other stuff bought for your kitchen but never/rarely used. they usually end up in hard-to-reach cabinets, and finally in the trashbin.

I think I saw Lumber Liquidators, but I think they didn't have any engineered floors (only solid).

Where abouts are you based? I know a good company in Tilbury, Essex, but you may not want to go that far.
